DO NOT BUY a GM BUYBACK

I bought a GM buyback Traverse. It was bought back because the battery kept dying and the service department couldn't figure it out. It turned out it the computer wasn't going "to sleep." They replaced the computer and problem solved. I thought it was a good deal but since I bought it, it's been back to the dealership multiple times for the sunroof, once it had to be towed in because the fuel injectors went, the fan for the seat cooler went and the receiver for the XM radio went. All these problems in less than ! year so I decided to buy an Extended Service Plan and found out GM wont even offer extended service plans on it's buybacks! The company that built the vehicle wont even take my money because they know how bad this vehicle is! Anyway I'm going shopping for a Dodge Durango this weekend. Never again will I buy a GM!

Gearhart Chevrolet - terrible service dept!

DO NOT go to this dealer! Their service department told us we needed a certain part and work on the car and we spent over $1000 getting the part and the labor, and we still had the same issues. They would not admit their mistake. TERRIBLE customer service. WILL NEVER...

Chevy - Built to NOT Last

I have a 2008 Chevy Aveo with 103,000 miles on it. The air conditioning compressor just failed on this car, and I have been told that replacing it will cost $850. The fact that such a vital and expensive part failed on a car that is only 4 years old and does not contain an extreme amount of miles is unbelievable and reflects the poor quality of Chevrolet. Thus, I contacted Chevy about it, was assigned to a representative, and was told to take it into a dealership to have it diagnosed and then we would talk about them possibly providing cost assistance. The dealership said that the expansion valve needed to be replaced and that the compressor should work fine after that. I reported this to Chevy, who said that they would not provide any cost assistance because of the mileage on the car (by the way, they knew the mileage of the car BEFORE they told me to take it for a diagnosis, which I paid $40, and that they would determine afterward whether to provide cost assistance or not). So I took the car back to my mechanic, who replaced the expansion valve. Guess what? The air still doesn't cool and, just as my mechanic had originally stated, the compressor has to be replaced. So, I am having to spend $850 to replace the compressor on a 4 year old car that Chevy deems as high mileage. Thus, Chevy is basically telling me that their parts go to *** around 100,000 miles, which is very early on vehicles these days. They could have at least paid for the part. I have owned numerous vehicles and driven them until they stop; I have never had such an expensive part failure on a vehicle this young and at this amount of miles. Oh, and this is not an isolated incident. Strangely, my friend who owns a Chevrolet truck is going through the EXACT same issue with his compressor; this will be his second compressor in 4 months! This is my first and last Chevrolet purchase. So, beware potential Chevrolet buyers: if you want a vehicle that's in it for the duration, look elsewhere.

Findlay Chevy lies and GM customer assistance a joke

Started off well. Found out later it was a sham. I took it to have the radiator flush being that Ed Bozarth did not flush it after cleaning radiator resevoir jug after it was contaminated with sludge at 35000 miles. They said I needed to speak to customer service of...

Now for those of you who just read the last paragraph and said to yuresolf, I could care less if I did offend a salesperson ! All I can say is that while I want to serve everyone in my business, there are definitely those who may need to go somewhere else to buy a car.

Professional salespeople care about their clients and will go to bat for them, especially if the salesperson believes the customer will be loyal over the years. If you present yuresolf as just a person who hates us and only cares about the deal , then all you'll get in the long run is the deal .

There will likely be no extra effort to go to bat for a person who everyone thinks will simply sell them down the river over $50.00 on the price of a car. (Although I personally go the extra mile for any customer's business no matter how mean the customer is, I know that salespeople in general feel this way and don't share my ethics in the matter.) See a testimonial here.

Not my Granddad's Chevy (GM)

I was brought up to buy American as it supported the jobs and families of my neighbors. However since I've begin buying my own cars, 6 in total, only 1 has not been an American made car and out of the rest all but 1 have been GMs (Escalade, Denali, Tahoe, & Impala), but the next 1 won't be. My Tahoe just had an electrical brain *** (computer died) and of course they cant fix it under the warranty it has to be an out of pocket job where the parts cost a couple hundred dollars but the labor is gonna cost me a few thousand dollars. I'm tired of paying the same amount or more for the cheap plastics, faulty wiring, and often in need of repair vehicles that they have churned out over the past 20 years, that I could be spending on a nice luxury car! The budget deficit isn't the problem that is going to sink American Exceptionalism, shotty craftsmenship however will be! Build a car that will last as long as a German or Japanese care and maybe I might come back to the brand. #nothappy

2008 Impala door locks

I have a 2008 impala and it has had all four door locks replaced. Now I have to have the passenger front door lock replaced again. Seems like for what I paid for the car the door locks could work. I hate the dealer that I have because they put parts in that are not needed just because I have a warrenty. So they are ripping off my warrenty provider and myself with time and money that need not be spent. I took my ca in becasue the car starter would not work and they put in a part, the next morning it ould not start agan. The explaination was well we don't always get it righ the first time.

Bad Service and lack of ownership

Dear GM Service Team, I've submit my car with previous appointment to your agency in Saudi Arabia - Al-Jomaih Jeddah service centre on last Saturday 23rd June 2012, i after first reception engineer refuse to open a work order since he had a meeting in head office !!! i moved to another engineer and i've describe exactly the problem in my vehicle and gave me the expected day to finish. my complaint extracted in few points: Day1 The expected day to finish is Wednesday 27/06/2012 which it will take 5 working days - its too much for bearing change - one job only. Day3 I called the engineer asking him about the situation and he told me that no spare part available but we found it and its on the way. Day4 I called again and he told me the spare part was wrong and we are requesting from another branch. Day5 I called asking when should i come to take the car but the was unfortunately we didn't found the spar part in same city , we ware seeking a regional branch to supply us the part. it was unforgivable answer. I came to the company and i met a customer relation manager and he told me he is sorry and asked me to purchase the part by yourself if you were in hurry !!!! i purchased the part and i came to them within 30mins. only !! Day 6 I took the car with high hand working cost and car was dirty like *** and no good service @ all. Finally i'm the victim 6 days cost of car rent, high working cost for replacing bearing , massive manipulating with customers needs and service and lack of ownership. Regards, Hani

2007 Chevy HHR-Death Waiting To Happen!

This is not an easy problem to have to deal with. I have been experiencing a problem with my 2007 Chevy HHR 1LT where my power steering stopped working, resulting in an accident back on Thanksgiving of 2011. Without knowing what possible course of action I had, I looked into possibly getting the repairs. To my surprise, I discovered that this is actually a very well known issue with this vehicle. In fact, there were a total of 3 cars with this power steering column from that year, the HHr, the Cobalt and the Aveo. With this finding, I also noticed that 2 of the 3 cars experienced a recall as a result, mine would not the one of them. In addition, when looking into repairs, I find out that GM has made made the parts and the only way to get it repaired is at a dealership. With all of this combined, it is safe to say that I became rather pissed. I contacted Chevy and demanded that they fix the problem, which they told me it is not covered under warranty. However, when I informed them that I was aware of this being a known issue, the tone changed a bit. I was informed that I needed to shell out the cost for a diagnostic ($108) and submit it to them. In an attempt to get this waived, I spoke to a manager. I informed the manager that this is ridiculous that I would need to pay to find out what is wrong with my vehicle when I am already aware. I am especially not happy with this when it has already caused an accident. When I informed him of this, he said that this changed everything and directed me to their claims division. From the claims division, I was asked a series of questions regarding the vehicle and informed that I should be expecting to hear from ESIS, their claims company. This is where things really being to go down hill... I was sent a form listing several requested documents to be submitted. When I finished gathering everything, i submitted it with the request to have receipt confirmed. Unwilling to wait for this, I took the initiative and called my claims administrator and had all of that confirmed, where he then began to ask me several more questions. All of a sudden his demeanor went from pleasant to incredibly nasty. He stated he had no idea why it has taken me 3 months to file the claim (from thanksgiving to April) and I informed him the holiday season is very busy for me and I was completely unaware of this option. In addition, I informed him I was aware of this being a known issue after, after I begun my research. He barked at me and said how could I know that, where I informed him it is a matter of public record and that it was very well documented all over the internet. Upon the closing of our conversation, I was informed that he was forwarding the claim to GM and that this process would take 1-1.5 weeks to be reviewed and the claim returned to him, where he would then make his final conclusion. When 2 weeks have passed, I began trying to reach out to him. After having multiple failed attempts, I contacted his supervisor. After leaving the supervisor a vm message, I received a call about an hour later. I was informed he has yet to receive a response, but that he was expecting to have everything he needed the following week. Unfortunately, at the end of the week after having no response, I followed up again. When I got in touch with the administrator, i was provided with a horrible attitude and told he just heard nothing yet and he will call me next week after he reviewed my case with GM, as it was scheduled to be heard. Again, I heard nothing from him and left a message for him at the end of the week. Once more, I am provided with a nasty attitude and told he has not heard back as of yet and that my case is scheduled to be reviewed next week. I then informed him I was expecting him to have reviewed the case with GM that current week, which he stated he had no idea what gave me that impression. The next week went by and I have yet to hear anything. Getting more than pissed of at this point, I called his manager again. I informed her that the attitude I have been receiving was unnecessary and that while I was expecting my case to take 1-1.5 weeks to be concluded, it has now been over 4-5. She informed me she would address the issue, that my case hearing was cancelled and re-scheduled for the following week and would see to it that if I am not given an update Tuesday night, that I would hear something by Wednesday night. Unfortunately this was obviously an empty promise. I have never heard anything at all and attempted to contact the supervisor again and left her a voice message to call me back. Unfortunately, a call back was never made. At this point, I found it necessary to escalate the problem. Currently, I have an open case with the BBB and Consumer Affairs. I have been receiving a call from GM (as I discovered by looking up the phone number and not by the voice messages I was never left). When I call customer care, I was informed I could not be told anything and that I must discuss the case with the rep in charge of it. I called Customer care to get some additional information, where I now learn I have a new case number and that my previously case is no longer valid. I was told by one representative that this is due to the BBB Case that is currently open, but a Manager refused to confirm this and stated it was simply a continuation of my existing claim. In order to get additional information on this, I would have to wait. Instead of address my issue, I feel like I am being highly avoided and being swept under a rug. At this point, I highly doubt I will EVER own a GM vehicle in my life. Hopefully, I might actually be able to get my issue resolved.

Vent fuel valve no covered in warranty

I took my truck to sunset of sumner cuz of check engine light and found it was a fuel vent evap valve. Although this is a common problem in all trucks 99 to 2007 and they have a repair kit for it they will not fix it under warranty or recall, so now they want $600. My truck went in twice for break problems before getting fixed and now twice for a wheel bearing they say is not common, upon doing research the wheel bearing is really common and people are saying it was going out every 8000 to 12000 miles. This was covered but why could they not fix it the first time. Plus they frown and argue about giving u a loaner car or getting u a rental car. Ford will drive a brand new car off the lot for you to make sure you are taken care of. A courtesy shuttle home is no courtesy if u need transportation for work and they can't even tell you how long it will take!

Chevrolet Service Centre in Thane (W), State _ Maharashtra, India is the worst service centre.

Please call me on 99690****, as I will be in a position to give you detailed explanation on the level of service given by a service center in Thane. This is my second servicing after six months of buying Chevrolet Beat from your show room in Thane. there is lack of coordination among the workers and the customers valuable time is wasted in such cases. For example, a) Whenever a part is replaced, they do not show the older replaced part to us as a proof of replacement. b) Similarly, customer's technical complaints are being ignored or taken lightly.

Worst Employer Ever

I have never ever been employed by such terrible people. There is an extreme lack of respect and communication. I was employed there for just over a year and never once got a raise or even a "Good job!"..... it is ridiculous the way Sands treats their employees AND their customers. I do have to say that John Thomas was the only person there who respects any of the employees. He doesn't care who you are or where you came from... He sees you for YOU and not for who you know. Excuse me for not growing up with Jerry Moore's stuck up daughters or dating someone who has known Tom forever. The service department is a joke!! I'm not speaking about sales or anyone there, just service and their terrible management. Maybe a few of them should pull the sticks out of their *** and appreciate a good employee when they have one!!!!!!!!!!!!

2007 Suburban Oil consumption issue

Update by user Jun 15, 2014

He we are June 2014 new pistons and all and the same problems. Chevrolet I am still waiting for you call. If I screwed up a project like this on the job I would be fired if I was unable to correct the issue and you could bet the customers issue would be corrected.

Original review posted by user Feb 25, 2012
rlucase@***.com To Whom It May Concern: My Wife and I bought a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LTZ 4WD 5.7 L with 25,205 miles on June 22nd 2009. This was one exciting day for us as we always dreamed of owning a luxury vehicle such as the Suburban. I have been a Chevrolet fan and owner. We currently also own a 1967 Chevelle Super Sport for which we use to feel so much pride in owning and showing this vehicle at many car shows. Over the last 31 months or so we have been back and forth to Chevy to get numerous repairs on items such as the battery, leaking roof, electronic running boards, rear defrost, CV boot, brakes, radio buttons that were sticking, moldy head liner, broken door handle, rear camera, faulty electronic folding seats and last but no least the truck has burning unusually high amounts of oil. Many of these repairs took months and countless trips to Chevy before they were fully resolved. The one outstanding and major issue is the high oil consumption which we are still looking for a resolution. This has put an enormous amount of stress on us as we have taken many days off of work and spent many hours going to the car rental shop filling out paper work each time and then when you drop off the rental its more hassle. They inspect the rental then you standby until they can shuttle you back to the dealer to pick up your car that still not repaired properly. My biggest concern is what damage has been done to the engine during the years of oil consumption test that Chevy has put us through. We were instructed on many occasions not to add oil because we have not reached the 1,000 or 2,000 mile increment instructed to us by the service manager. There was one time my wife called the service manager and said the oil light came on and no oil was reading on the dip stick and he said keep driving because you have not reached the 1,000 mile mark. I then called the service manager and what the heck do you think the results would be if we kept driving with no oil, he then said it was ok to add oil. On another occasion I found that it appeared that they were over filling the oil, was it an accident? I am not quite sure. There are many blogs and websites that other 2007 5.7L Chevy owners are complaining of the exact issues I have mention here. I have brought this to the attention of our service representative and the service manager several times. They keep telling us we are following Chevrolet guidelines just to bear with them. I told the service manager I understand there are issues with cars, that does not bother me. What bothers me is that we have been fighting this issue for several years with no resolution. One of the last repairs was the replacement of the pistons and rings which seems to have slowed down the consumption but not eliminated it. Now when we start the engine after it has sat for a while it makes a nasty ticking sound. I think we deserve a new engine or a replacement vehicle. If anyone out there has had this issue (Oil Consumption) and Chevy has resolved it please let me know. Below I listed the documented trips to Chevy. (this does not include all of the drive bys at 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000 increments) Vehicle purchase June 22nd 2009 Chevy Certified 8/2009 Electronic Running boards fail intermittently Water leak reported (replaced seal) 1/2010 Battery Died – Chevy Replaced Rear camera fails intermittently Rear electronic seat won't fold up Radio controls not working due to sticky buttons (never repaired) Chevy Cleaned moldy headliner 4/2010 Oil consumption reported to Chevy Water leak still ongoing after repairs Rear defrost wire broken (Chevy repaired) 5/2010 Oil Consumption still ongoing Chevy replaced left side valve cover Drives side exterior door handle broke (Chevy repaired) 6/2010 Oil consumption reported to Chevy Chevy removed manifold and found no issues Recall on windshield heater (Chevy Removed and disabled) 9/2010 Provide Chevy with several Bulletins 10-06-0*-008 Document ID 252**** Oil consumption reported to Chevy (Chevy installed AFM Oil Deflector and cleaned carbon from cylinder) Water leak still ongoing after repairs (Chevy repaired) Electronic Running boards fail intermittently (still) 10/2010 More bulletins reported to Chevy 01-06-0*-011F and 07-06-0*-007c 11/2010 Oil light came on dash Chevy replaced pistons and Rings Replaced outer CV boot Brake work done 1/2011 Oil consumption low Rear defrost wire broken (Chevy repaired again) 4/2011 No oil on dip stick 8/2011 Oil Consumption Chevy replaced left valve cover with new design baffle 11/2011 Low oil light came on again PS we really would like to buy a new Camaro but with this trouble on the suburban not sure I still can count on Chevy.

oil problem going on. Lifters need to be replaced, need new motor......I am so upset with Chevy why would they do this to consumers, these sub should last way over 200 k miles w/out problems.

#1013338

I have the same oil problem going on.

Thanks GM.....

Should of bought a Ford.

#826361

I have a 2003 Chevy suburban and have been extremely happy with it. It has 130,000 miles and runs as though it were new.

Doesn’t use a drop of oil, paint still looks new, etc. I love this truck, but; was looking to upgrade to a newer or even new model due to age and mileage.

After hearing about the Votec all aluminum engine oil consumption issues and the newer paint problems and GM’s response to owners, I think I’ll find something else to purchase.

It’s no wonder GM went bankrupt, and they still haven’t learned how to satisfy their customers. Perhaps I’ll buy a Toyota truck with a crew cab.

#684477

Had same oil consumption issue had Blackbear tune and turned of afm. Problem solved. No more oil consumption.

what did you have done> turned off afm? and what is blackbear?

thanks

I to have problems with my 2007 ltz suburban. it started with the oil now i need a new engine at 150k.

this is worst truck i have owned.

the car has been sitting since December while i am making payments on it cant afford to buy a new engine. I wish Chevy would man up to there *** design.

#647652

Been driving Suburbans from 1985 and replaced each with new about every 5 years. I have to say it is very sad to say I won a Suburban that is a total pc of ***.

This one is now 6 years old the worse vehicle I have ever drove, not only does it bur nthe oil at 100k (all my other units never used the oil with some well over 200k) the unit now is built so poor for so much money, little wire clips that i had to replace with wire ties to solve the issue of my wires hanging down.

The back window wires come off and I stopped paying for it to be put back on, the door handles do not work half the time, the paint on it is coming off by flaking, the list goes on & on it have been in the service department about every 2-3 months starting from about 5k miles. I am now looking for a new vehicle and Chevy Suburban will not be the number one choice as in years past but it will now be my last choice :sigh

#647657
@PissedConsumer647652

sorry it was not won a Suburban I meant own a Suburban

#621524

I am having the exact same oil consumption issue now. I have been having this issue for several years.

I own a 2009 Suburban z71 and have had NUMEROUS issues with the vehicle. My biggest complaint is that I have the same issues multiple times and the problem takes years to fix. Well, except the oil issue, which is now causing me to have to ride around with several quarts of oil at all times. This is normal usage for the truck is what the service department at John Thornton Chevrolet told me.

I am using eight to ten quarts of oil in this vehicle between oil changes.

I don't believe that's normal and I am FRIGGIN PISSED OFF ABOUT IT. I am ready to sue.

#685725
@Kassidy Prx

Sorry, I meant I bought a 2007 in June 2009. At this point, I am adding between 1, 1.5, or 2 quarts of oil every 700 miles. This is ridiculous.

Your wife needs to learn how to drive. You only get the max mpg by very slow acceleration and only driving about 50mph and never stopping or slowing down for anything.

You probably don't even know how to calculate your own mpg accurately. I had a friend once that claimed he was getting 40mpg, but when the math was done, he got like 30mpg.

You will not sue and you will not win.

Chevrolet HHR interior door handle

The driver side door handle broke, the only way to get out is to roll down the window, reach out and open the door from the outside. Repair involves replacing the entire door panel, not just the handle (several hundred dollars) per the dealer. Now I have found the handle alone online for about $100.00. This is a very dangerous situation and it appears that I am not the only one it happened to. It seems that GM should step in and pick up the costs for repair. I have been a GM owner since 1955, had problems but none as dangerous as this one.

I purchased a used 2011 Chevrolet HHR 3 months ago. Last week I was exiting the car and the handle broke off.

It is plastic. I was shocked. In my 40 years of driving this has never happened. I have a bad shoulder and it causes me pain to reach out and open the door from the outside.

I cannot afford to fix it and of course I expected Chevrolet to fix it.

Answer "NO". Hope I don't die as a result of not being able to get out of it.

American made vehicles are nothing but cheaply made junk and I know many people in the car business who 100% agree.Even people I know who sell american brands will tell you this if they know you well or are related to you.
