2014 Chevrolet Silverado, Lots of Issues

This is the letter that I wrote GM, I have yet to receive a response. Good Morning, GM Priority Care. Regarding my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which was purchased from Silver Star Chevrolet located in Thousand Oaks, CA last March of 2014. Since purchasing this vehicle I have experienced many issues, some of which still exist despite Silver Star’s attempt to identify and repair. As I explained when we spoke, the truck was lifted by Silver Star Chevrolet using Four Wheel Parts in Thousand Oaks, and is now warranted through DSI (Dealer Services International) replacing the original factory warranty. This replacement warranty was not fully explained when purchasing the truck, but through attempting to gain resolution of warranty issues has become very clear. In fact, we were told that the lift was warranted by DSI, but the GM warranty would remain in place. What was not made clear was that the lift VOIDED the GM Warranty for the Power train and all other suspension related component portions of the warranty. Time and time again I have brought my truck back to Silver Star to try and resolve some of the outstanding issues. However, each time I am told that the issues are being caused by aftermarket parts which have been installed on the truck and that I should deal with 4 Wheel Parts to get it fixed or that they could not recreate the issue. In my last visit I recreated the issues while leaving their lot – but they refused to ride with me – Stating "They only look for diagnostic trouble codes, and since none appeared they assumed the vehicle was fine". After becoming fed up with Silver Star and their business practices I choose to take my truck to Keyes Chevrolet who were extremely customer oriented and I truly believe that they had a desire to fix my truck however they were not able to recreate every issue and codes weren’t being thrown to tell them where to look. They did in fact ride in the vehicle, and observed the issues, but without finding any diagnostic code could not resolve the issues either. Below is a list of the issues. So in regards to the issues I have experienced with my truck since the time of purchase. When I purchased the truck the installed tire calibrator would not allow the truck to shift under full acceleration. This has been fixed. From time to time I have experienced unintended acceleration. Fortunately I’m quick on the peddle and have been able to break each time. Since I have purchased the truck I have experienced a vibration in the rear differential under half to full acceleration. It feels like the entire rear differential is going to break off from under the truck. This is sporadic. Recently the motor has begun to shake as if it has a misfire or a broken mount somewhere. At times the vibrations are minimal and or even appear to be no existent however at other times the truck will shake so bad that its as if I have a vibrator under my seat. The blower motor on the air conditioning system acts up from time to time and will not blow at full blast. Silver Star claims that they performed a recall on this and that it should be fixed. In addition to that issued I have experienced issues with the temperature sensors in the system. From time to time the air conditioner has read out at 70 degrees while the system is blowing much closer to 85 degrees. Keyes claimed that there was a recall on this as well how I have experienced this since they have performed the recall. Since the purchase of the truck the traction control and ABS systems have been a constant annoyance going off all of the time. However I believe that Keyes has fixed this for good. : ) I believe that the motor in my seat is going out, on several occasions I have been able to adjust my seat down however it has either refused to come back up or moved extremely slowly. On one occasion my screen in my truck green screened and afterwards my camera was very blurry for about a week and from time to time I still experience sporadic blurriness. On one occasion I parked my truck and locked my steering wheel in place. When I returned to my truck and tried to unlock my steering wheel by applying slight pressure and turning my key the entire steering column turned 90 degrees! On many occasions my stereos volume jumps around. For example I will be listening to a song and turn the volume up to max however I only get half volume. And a few songs later the system starts working properly again and ill get full volume. It could be a bad amplifier. In conclusion this is my first Chevrolet Silverado and my second Chevrolet all together. Before purchasing my truck I owned a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS which I loved and had zero issues with. My experience with my Chevrolet Silverado has been miserable at best. I have told anyone and everyone that would lend ear of my experience with this truck and what to expect from Silver Star. At this point without intervention from GM I intended to peruse a lemon law attorney given that my truck has so many issues that are unresolved. My hope is that you can help to resolve these issues without intervention from any outside source. I hope that Chevrolet can redeem themselves in regards to the opinions I express to others about Chevrolet as a company.

2001 Chevy Malibu's theft system stops car from starting

My 2001 Chevy Malibu would not start due to theft system being activated. The car had spark and it was kicking over but something would stop it from operating properly. After googling my problem, there were other similar problems with their Chevy Malibu's. In order to get the car to start, you have to to the keys to on position, if security light is blinking you must leave key in position so the dashboard lites are on for ten minutes so the security system is disabled then the car will start. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. My grandmother needed to go to the emergency room when this happened and had to call an ambulance due to vehicle not starting. This problem should have been taken care of a long time ago. These cars should be recalled, this problem is gonna be the cause of someone's death. I'll never buy from GM again

Dishonest Chevy of Smithtown

I had dropped my vehicle off for service on October 1st. There was an obvious water leak above the fuse box beneath the glove compartment. The car did not start, the rear wiper blade did not work and there were two safety recalls on the vehicle. After 10 days in the service department, only a new battery was installed and I was told by Luann (the service adviser) that my bill was over $900 (she stated none of labor for the warranty work was covered). I picked my car up on October 15th; Luann had informed me I would need to return the vehicle for additional service they could not get to in the previous two weeks, but the water leak was fixed. Meanwhile the water leak was clearly not fixed as water was pouring in only a day later, and the wiper still did not work. The warranty company then confirmed that all parts and labor would be covered. The car has been with a reputable service station for the past 12 days. They have had the windshield replaced and the water leak fixed. The fuse box that was soaked with water has also been replaced (and proven to be the cause of the electrical issues). These issues could have easily been resolved in the two weeks North Shore Chevy’s service department had the vehicle; however Luann seemed more concerned with dishonorable service tactics. The invoice from Chevy clearly shows “customer states water leak near fuses”, followed by the improper diagnosis of the rear wiper motor being faulty. This erroneous repair resulted in a $245 charge to the warranty company, plus a $100 deductible charge to myself (along with a $29 additional tax on the parts & labor covered by the warranty). The invoice from the reputable mechanic shop only days after the vehicle was “fixed” by Chevy, showed a correct diagnosis of the rear wiper not working due to water damage to the fuse box (an additional cost of $460).

Review from Monett, Missouri

I also have a Aveo! Gas mileage sucks ! I also have been driving (highway speed) and my car would loose power ! But also my car goes through tires like nothing! I had just over 4000 miles and the rear passenger the tire was slick and wires were coming out! Now 4 sets of tires later! My rear tire is slick again! I feel there is something wrong with the wheel or something ! My car only has 44500! I will never have another Chevy! Wish I hadn't paid cash for it! Cause if I were making payments! There would never be another payment made on that piece of ***!

My DANGEROUS 2010 Chevy Aveo LT

My 2010 Chevy Aveo has been having a total loss of power issue. I took it to the dealer twice and both times they said they couldn't replicate the issue. It still has it's powertrain warranty and its only at 68k miles. Today I was nearly hit by a tractor trailer because I couldn't get out of the way fast enough. I was a good distance to safely cross but in the amount of time it took to return power, he nearly t-boned me. DANGEROUS! I'm glad I didn't have my 5 mo son with me. I feel totally alone with the company. I did my part by buying a car from a corp like Chevy and now that they have my money, i'm swamped. The only thing I wanted this car for was low gas mileage and safety since our first born 5 mo old child is with me at times. I wish I never bought a Chevy and I nor anyone in my immediate family, will ever buy one again. I know I'm just a number in comparison to the millions of satisfied customers but I still count.

The only bad choice I ever made was buying a Toyota when I still worked for them as a technician. Why? Because now I think they're the greatest car in the world.

#892279

Dealerships are never able to duplicate the problems. But they are very good at advising you to get gasoline treatments, throttle body cleaning, fuel injector cleaning, and all other sources of system treatments that cost hundreds of dollars and at the end the problem is still there. They are sales driven they don't care about the vehicle they just care about getting as much money as possible from you.

@Alaric Poe

Yeah. I ended up picking up a new oem throttle body off of Amazon and changed it on my lunch break in the parking lot.

I have never been so disappointed before. I'll never buy another GM again.

Horrible service at the dealerships and know response from the customer service team. Totally pissed.

Dent in my 2012 Camaro because of inappropriate parking at dealership

Dear reviewers, I encouraged you to take a look at my complaint. My story started when I serviced my 2012 Camaro at Brenengen Chevrolet Dealership in Onalaska in Wisconsin. After I had my car serviced, the customer representatives parked my car in a very inconvenient parking space surrounded by 2 cars on my sides and a truck behind me. The truck behind me had a long hook which extended away from the truck which I actually did not notice when I sat in my car. When my car was parked in that spot, it was left on a relatively higher ground with a risk of my car getting backwards by gravity. As soon as I started my car and lifted my hand break off, the distance was very minimum and I could not prevent the accident. My car rolled backwards for less than 2 inches and hit the truck's hook leaving my car with a very small dent. This problem could have been prevented if the customer service parked my car in an open spot which was available all over the parking lot. I totally understand this is a personal mistake. But parking my car was very inconvenient and subject to safety issues because there was no warning sign saying (car parked on a higher ground). My main complaint is about the safety of Brenengen Chevrolet parking and inconvenient parking.
