2008 Chevrolet Equinox:
Why do the dealers put 5 Quarts of oil in when the owners manual say 4 quarts for my engine (small V-6)? See owners manual link below & refer to page 5-107. It also says the engine can be damaged by putting too much oil in (over the hash marks on the dipstick.) on page 5-16.
I contacted the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center with the above facts.
The answer I got was that the dealership has more correct specifications than the owners manual. I guess that's why they charge a lot more for their oil changes! 1294bda
