| 2. Written by Hawk on January 16, 2012 from albany, new york, US Chevy does take care of the problem with what they call a" tecnical service bulletin". My 2007 chevy silverado had the same electrical smell, and lost 1,2,3 position on switch. I took off the plasic cover under the pass side dashboard, unplugged the heater fan resister and saw the resister was bad. The electric plug was not fried. Went to chevy showed them the part. They said it a free replacement and fix, but they would need to splice in a new plug end. I told them mine showed now sign of any decay or melt down. Told me it didn't matter they had to replace it under GM's TSB coverage.I said no thanks, don't want spliced wires if not necessary. Latter I found out that the is a charge of about $100.00 for the plug end thats not covered! Went on advance autoparts online got a discount coupon code number, ordered the part cost me about $41.00.I put on a little dielectric grease(very little)on the plug end and hooked it all back together. Works perfect! total time to fix 20 mins! Chevy told me it takes them About 1 1/2 to fix!! DO IT YOURSELF REALLY EASY. |

| 6. Written by Rex on November 19, 2010 from chicago, illinois, US These heater fan problems have been happening to virtually ALL chevy trucks from 2003 to 2007. I know companies with fleets of these trucks. it has happened to all of them. you will never see a recall, although it's obvious it should have been. typical GM method of operation |
